Why the hell did we do this?

Have you ever been sitting in a boat on the lake from 8 am to 8 pm and thought to yourself, “I love the taste of this beer but I am so full from drinking it all day”? Same. What about those times you play a 6-hour round of golf (and tell your wife it’s because the guys in front of you were “so slow” when really you were bellied up to the 19th hole for two hours after) and felt weighed down by drinking the same heavy beverage all day but didn’t want something fruity? Also same.

One day, after a great Mexican lunch with burritos and margaritas we, naturally, went to another bar for more drinks. Sitting there wanting to drink the beers we ordered we felt too full and recognized a need. We wanted to order a drink that we could have after that big lunch, that we could confidently order at the bar without being made fun of by our friends, and that tasted similar to our favorite go-to beverage without weighing us down so we really could drink all day.

That’s when we realized we weren’t the only ones that felt this way. These days, the manly guys are expected to pick their favorite beer and stick to it – even when your wife makes you eat 3 meals during your lake day and your stomach feels like it might explode. If you try switching to a seltzer for something lighter you’re met with classic lime, grapefruit, or mixed berry and they’re all way too sweet. Not to mention the slim can with a white background and brightly colored logos – not very masculine.

Hard Seltzer naturally flavored by hops and barley to create flavors reminiscent of your favorite pilsner or IPA.

Instead of guys drinking fruity seltzers such as Truly and Whiteclaw with flavors like black cherry, watermelon, fruit punch in skinny cans, we created an alternative to make drinking seltzer cool and geared towards guys.

Five Iron has the benefits of seltzer, lighter, doesn’t make you full, less than 100 calories, 5.5% ABV, natural flavors, preservative free, gluten free, etc but with branding and flavors for beer drinkers and just ‘dudes’ in general.
